No, not because Golemizer’s graphics are not that hot. No, not because I’m a single developer with a lot to do (day job included) and it’s not as polished as it could be. No …

Well, it can be yes also. But my opinion is slowly changing. I used to think that if people were not coming back to Golemizer after checking it out it was my fault. I wasn’t good enough, maybe my idea wasn’t good enough, maybe I’m just doing random stuff on that thing called web or something.

I invite you to check the last post on Elder Game (nice new look by the way, just noticed). It helps to get some pressure off my shoulders. Not that I shouldn’t keep trying to do better but it helps to understand the truth: If you build it that doesn’t mean they will come. Well, we all know that but there’s a difference between knowing and believing I guess.

I recently ran some ads with an improvised budget (read here that I had to look in that bank account I never touch). It brought a lot of people (compared to the regular traffic) to Golemizer but now that the ads are not running anymore I can only notice a slight increase of active players. It cost a lot of money for not much. That’s the short term view. The long term point of view is that now more people know about Golemizer. How can they play if they don’t even know it exists! Can’t count on much reviews from blogs and such so I have to try things (on that topic something big is coming, well I hope it will be big).

So yes it’s hard to get new players and I heard all the recipes out there. That last post from Sandra Powers is quite welcome I must say.
