So yeah Blizzard have backed down. Ask me what I fear most. Almost total anonymity or having your name next to the things you are saying? Honestly I fear much more anonymity.
In the last few days we have seen a part of the web going crazy about a company announcing in advance how it plans [...]

Say that guy … and me. It’s just easier to quote someone that is better known than me to make a point.
Cliff Harris is running a small contest in which you have to design a banner to win a model of a ship featured in his game. Here’s the quote I like:
Isn’t this supporting evil [...]

Bah … There’s so many ways to tell others that you like something that it’s starting to look like a big mess. However I’m a web developer so I need to experiment with this new stuff just to be in the loop.
Don’t know if I “like” it (hehe) or not but right now I don’t [...]

I really do. Just like I hate cars and think that 95% of people are not mature enough to drive one.
But in both case I need them. My need for them is greater than my hate so I guess I just have to deal with it.
What’s becoming ridiculous with computers though is that when they [...]

Right from the start it was clear, I wanted Golemizer to be a family friendly game.
No swearing, no racism, no sexual innuendo, no religion, no politic, … Anything that can sparks trouble. Of course eliminating the previous list doesn’t mean there won’t be any trouble but it’s a good start and it’s easy to comply [...]

I’d like to know because I’d like to pay my membership for this year. Seems there is a difference between considering yourself an indie game developer and others considering you as one.
This post from Mike made me smile as I can relate to what he’s saying there.
I always struggle on to who contact to promote [...]

Don’t get me wrong. When a player gives me his opinion on what I should do it’s great. It means he cares. Of course he might be completely off the map but he’s trying to help.
On game development forums it’s different however. Forums are what they are, self-promotion spaces where people like to hear themselves [...]

* I’m not one that likes rants so I made sure to include some positive bits at the end.
Before going further I think I need to make sure we all get some things:
- Kongregate seems to be doing just fine as it is right now. They look like a successful business so they are surely [...]

Saw Avatar last night and was impressed. First thing I noticed is that 3D is not “in your face, ah! you thought it was coming at you”. I’m not a movie critic so go see it yourself and make your own opinion.
But do make an opinion. Don’t just take one of the pre-built opinion and [...]

Not only does the guy have an agenda, but the app in question (Family Feud) is based on a major brand, not a typical indie game.

I sent this link to Dave earlier today, but I’ll post it here, too: http://www.edge-online.com/news/facebook-games-suffer-in-april
Basically, as Facebook has gotten more restrictive on how applications can spam people (third-party notifications), interest in these games has fallen. This means that social games have been successful for one main reason: because they could pester players easier to get them to come and play. We’ll see if social games can actually pull through and find some quality games to keep them going, but one thing is certain: it’s no longer enough to just go put a game up on Facebook to get rich.
Sorry, Dave.

Damn! My plan to dominate the world just went into a wall!
It was simple. Release a game, sit, wait, get rich, buy frickin’ sharks with frickin’ laser beams attached to their frickin’ heads!

Facebook social games are more social than games. It’s a lesson we have to learn if we want to play in that arena.
