Update #30 of Golemizer introduced the Atlas. The Atlas is a new website that you can check out here: http://atlas.golemizer.com/

By crafting an Electron Stamper and using this item players can take pictures of their favorite zones in Golemizer and share them with the world. It doesn’t require to upload screenshots or anything, just use this item while playing and pictures are automatically added to the Atlas.

Anyone can rate those pictures and soon monthly trophies will be awarded to the best photographers and best zones constructor based on these ratings.

The idea came from a blog post I read here: http://t-machine.org/index.php/2010/01/18/2010-and-the-browser-mmo/

It’s true that a browser MMO should actually use the web in a more efficient way than just showing a “download this huge plug-in so your browser MMO is in fact a desktop MMO like any other”. The Atlas for Golemizer is still not a complete fix to make more use of the web but it’s a start.

There’s so many zones to explore in Golemizer that it was becoming difficult to keep track of it all (over 26,000 zones). I’m always in need of new screenshots that can gives a good idea of what players can do in Golemizer so this new Atlas will surely be a powerful tool to help me to spot amazing things built by players.

It’s also good to show quickly to potential players what they can expect of the game. Golemizer is a deep game that requires some commitment to explore so now it’s never been easier to get a taste of Golemizer.
